The Heartland Brewery is a chain restaurant here in New York City. I do enjoy it more than any typical chain restaurant though. It has a great variety of beer, which is all specially brewed for the restaurant. It also specializes in different types of food in each location from a Chophouse, Barbecue, and a Burger joint.
Unfortunately the beer is not brewed on premises, but they always have a large selection and a few seasonal beers on tap. I also really like that they offer a beer sampler or a flight of beers as they are sometimes called. This includes all of their regular beers on tap and can also include the seasonal beer that they are currently offering. There are 5 oz. samplers of each beer.
The food is good. It's nothing spectacular, but it's definitely good enough. At least for the prices. It is a little pricey, but it's what you expect from a restaurant in NYC. If I had to recommend anything it would be the Pulled Pork Sandwich from the one located in Union Square.
If you are sick of the everyday beer, I would recommend this place for a taste of something new. It may be a chain, but the beer makes it worth it. The atmosphere is also pleasant and I've never had to wait too long for a table.
